How to turn a drawing into an animated video

You don't need animation skills, software, or a design background — just a photo of a drawing (or any photo) and a couple of minutes. Here's exactly what happens when Amazetoon brings it to life.

Choosing how the background works

Before your video generates, you pick one of five background treatments — this is usually the single biggest decision that shapes the result:

🌍World — Builds a whole new setting around your character — a fresh scene, dreamed up from scratch.
✨Auto — Lets Amazetoon pick whatever treatment suits your drawing best — a solid default when you're not sure.
🎨Merge — Blends your character naturally into the world already in your photo.

📷Original — Keeps your original background exactly as it is — only the character comes alive.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of drawing works best?

Almost anything: a notebook sketch, a marker drawing, a school art project, or a plain photo. A clear phone photo in decent light works just as well as a scanned or digital file — the character doesn't need to be perfectly clean.

Do I need to draw a background too?

No. If your drawing is just a character on a blank page, pick the World or Auto background mode and Amazetoon builds a scene around it. If your photo already has a background you like, use Merge or Original instead.

How long does it take to generate a video?

Most videos are ready in a few minutes, depending on how many scenes and what resolution you choose — the job page shows a live estimate and progress once you approve the storyboard.

Can it add voice and music?

Yes, both are optional toggles before you generate. Turn either off if you'd rather keep the video silent or add your own audio afterward.

Will the AI change my character?

It animates your character rather than redrawing it from scratch, though like any generative video model it can occasionally take small creative liberties — sometimes even adding a fun extra character of its own. You always see the full storyboard before anything renders, so nothing goes to video without your approval.
